Our Story
Bronzeville Green Organic Landscaping, BGOL, was founded in 2008 by The Renaissance Collaborative, Incorporated as a social enterprise that facilitated a transitional job training program. It was specifically designed to help The Renaissance Collaborative, Incorporated tenants and community residents obtain the next level of self-sufficiency, employment and independence by providing them with the opportunity to build a job history and acquire basic job skills. The original aim of the Bronzeville Green Organic Landscaping workforce program was to provide tenants with a credible employment history and marketable job skills so that they could more easily re-enter the job market successfully.
Today BGOL has grown into a full service, for-profit landscaping company, with a true social mission that lives on. We continue to recruit, train, and employ individuals who would have typically faced barriers to employment. Willing and hardworking individuals with criminal histories, limited education, limited employment history, and minimal employable skills are welcomed into TRC's landscaping training program. BGOL recruits its employees from this application pool, helping to give workers a credible and quality work history.
Our company uses professional best practice techniques to provide our commercial grounds maintenance services and environmentally friendly trash removal services. Our company only contracts with environmentally friendly waste removal contractors to reduce waste and in all appropriate situations, recycle trash and debris materials.
Indeed, for our commitment to excellence, the environment, and green collar job creation, we were awarded to 2009 Environmental Hero Award, Governor Pat Quinn, IL. Our landscapers and grounds maintenance technicians go through an enhanced customer service training, ground maintenance training, tool usage and safety training, and have had experience in dealing with community residents, neighborhood businesses, and other collaborators on grounds maintenance projects. BGOL provides top-notch customer service and best practice environmental services for customers on a large or small scale. We employ the most up-to-date environmentally friendly landscaping practices, while always keeping in mind our triple bottom line: people, environment, and efficiency.
